Transferring To Another Store
Permalink

So, I'm trying to move my boyfriend and I out of his mom's house, but the apartments we are looking at and very interested in make my current Kroger store a bit too far out of our way.

I'm a cashier, I have been working here for four months, and I am at full time status. I constantly hear about how well I work and I work my butt off to make everyone feel that I am a quality employee.

My questions:

  • Will I be able to transfer even though I have been here very long? I understand that at most retail stores you have to at least be out of the probation period (usually 3 months), but I heard from someone that at Kroger you have to work here a year in order to successfully transfer.
  • Will I be able to keep my full time status, if I am permitted to transfer? My current weekly pay is very important in maintaining the apartment we are after. I am not worried about maintaining seniority, because I haven't been here for very long anyway.

If I cannot transfer I will be looking for another job in the area closer to the apartments we're after.

You usually can always transfer if the store is closer to your home. All you need to do is talk to your store manager about transferring to another store and they will then talk to the manager of that store. It may take a little bit of time though. Good luck!
