ELMS and Backstock
Permalink

Been trying to get my dept (I run dairy) to run smoother on a regular basis so I had a manager pull my ELMS by task to find out where I am screwing up. My problem is that out of the 95-110 hours a week my dept gets, I am only supposed to spend 3.5-5 hours a week running backstock.  I know that we spend at least 3 times that amount every week doing that.  I don't see how I can maintain an "instock position" and make my OOS goals (11 or less holes)and keep my Backstock so low that it should only use a few hours a week to run.

I think its rediculous. But maybe someone has some insight into something I can do to remedy this.

Maybe?

When ELMS was developed and rolled out a couple years back or so, they asked & wanted the department managers / co-managers to look over their particular ELMS and send in any corrections. Look, whoever designed it sorta has the right idea but doesn't have the true data for every single store. Thats where people like you in the trenches come into play - to made the adequate adjustments. So yea, look over what is assigned and tweak it reasonably then pass it off to the appropriate people. You do have e-mail don't you? Type up a nice little letter outlining your discoveries and send it off to whoever.

good Luck!
