Kroger fears HEB more than they do Walmart. I heard Houston gets 40 hours of engagement hours to compete against them. We should care, because as they move up our contracts will get better. "Our People Are Great" so great that they'll jump ship for a higher pay and being treated with respect. Their employees seem happier and less stressed.

Kroger is way too over confident if they don't think they're a threat. Being this ****y and thinking their employees will stay is absurd. I've heard the benefits that HEB employees gets. I would like to see exactly what a Market Manager makes, but i've heard it tops out at $27 /hr vs $18.35 / hr for a Kroger meat department here in the DFW area. This might present a chance to really push for a good contract.

It's a privately owned grocery chain based in San Antonio, Texas.  It operates over 300 stores in the state of Texas and northern Mexico.  So, in less you live in Texas, you've probably never heard of them.

So they sell drugs in the backrooms? No wonder they are less stressed.

That's either wishful thinking, or bargaining is a lot different there than it is here.

I know that sounds snarky, but I hope for you sake, it's the latter.

I  have a friend who works for them and if they had a store in my town I would try my hardest to get a job.Besides they pay is better they dont treat their employees like robots.I know I am a fast worker and most days I feel I cant keep up.I never get a great job only why something wasnt done.

Yes, Kroger is in the buss to make money but hopefully they will see that even a extra 7 hrs in a dept a week will help attitudes.

I was going to start a new topic on sweeps. But I will use this reply. Last few weeks I have been getting the why. I do my best I was getting the why was so and so not logging it in the clock. I really cannot answer for other people. The manager showed me the log sheet and my name was the main one on there and I was like why the fuss I am doing it the best I can. I get called to bag and then also have to get all the trash and now they have cut the hours most days only 4 hours. I was told when a sweep is being done it should not stop until done for no reason. I was told the manager was sussposed to help while either the utility clerk or courtisty clerk was sweeping. Anyway today I was given a shining star for doing better. It's not much but atleast they reconize I am doing better. Just wanted to note this. And this H.E.B you never know they may get currupted with something like Key Retailing.

I worked for HEB Central Market for 10 years before I moved out of state. It was an awesome company! No Union means that you are rewarded for good work and if ya don't do your job... then you are out!

bumping this thread to remind at Kroger people that the reason there is no more Krogers in central Texas is because of HEB. Just something to keep in mind while they invade DFW
