BagBoy is right...I think a hospital is in order...You never want to take a chance with something like that...

One other thought...With power jacks being what they are, and the fact that they CAN be dangerous, if not used properly, why aren't there more accidents like this out there...I've heard anecdotal things over the years about people crashing jacks into walls, or one time, a driver told me about a guy who sent a jack right off a dock plate, through the bay door into the bay below...but I could never confirm it...Have any of you guys ever heard stories like this, or been part of any accidents involving power jacks? Hearing other stories might help to reinforce the need to use the proper precautions and safeguards when using these tools...It might not help our friend here, but it might make someone else think the next time they use a jack...And I can't believe none of you have ever had a similar episode, or know someone who did, so please share....Accident prevention is key!

A guy at my store ran the powerjack into the bay door bent it all to hell. The next day we had to use a hammer to fix it from the outside. No one was hurt, thank god.

Hospital. Now. If you haven't yet.

Sounds like you've most likely crushed several bones in your foot and toes. You may also have torn or severed tendons and nerves in your foot. You are at a serious risk of infection, which could lose you your foot. This isn't a minor injury where you have the luxury of hiding it because it will get worse, much worse, if unchecked. Best idea imho is to fess up to the doctors about the drug part and take their advice about telling the company it happened there. If you tell them it did, they'll drug test you and if you fail, they aren't obligated to pay.

Good luck.

Also I wouldn't worry about the drug test. When I got hired all I had to take was a saliva test and I read that those tests are only accurate for about 24-48 hours from the last time you smoked (not that I would have failed anyway but still) so just don't smoke any today and get to the hospital NOW.

ok then...

chalk it off as a stupid move on your part;  lay off the wacky weed a coupkle hours prior to heading into work and don't run your toes over w/ the power jack again!

I agree with going to the hospital.  Then invest in some ANSI approved steel toe boots.   No one should be operating powered equipment without a pair.  Though I worked in a few factories before starting at kroger so having steel toes was mandatory.

Aw I'm sorry about your toes. But if something ever like that happens at Kroger never "just leave". If you get hurt while on the job they have to pay for it. And in my state they wont give you a drug test just because you hurt yourself. But now that you left that day they wont pay for it. (this is in my state that is though) Best of luck to you though.

I once dropped a frozen pallet, CORNER FIRST, on my left big toe. Just buggered it all up. I wasn't high, but we were so busy that night that I finished my shift without medical attention. Next day, I had to call off because I couldn't even put a shoe on, let alone drive.

Ever since then I've been wearing steel toed boots like R E L I G I O N.

This is where one should have notified the person in charge right away. You could have still worked and covered your ass as far as going to the doctors later.

felt in shock told nobody about it finished my whole 8 hour shift

Again then you would have been covered as to going to the hospital. It would have been simple and you have so much time to make a claim once management was notified.

got home and my toes are all black and blue and blood all in my socks what should i do and has it ever happened to any of you

Never had that but have been hurt before and always notified management right away. Always refused to go to the hospital until I see what and where I was at with the injury. But once they are aware of it, you are then covered to go later if needed. If you leave the store and never report it, then it all comes down to you and they will not pay if they can avoid it. You then have to prove it was on their time.

the reason i told nobody about it was i'm still a new hire 3 months in i have no benifits

Does not matter , you should have already passed your probation if you was around for 3 months. It would have been a workmans comp claim and would have all been covered regardless of and benefits. You now passed any cost on to your self and off the company.

and not apart of the union

If you are in a right to work state then it should not matter if you are in the union or not.

and i smoke alot of green when i'm not workin i wouldn't pass a drug test

Well then you may have saved your job for the moment. Positive drug test on any accident ( while at work ) is grounds for termination and they will pass the cost or bill on to you. Now if you would have only notified your management and made it thru the shift, you would have had time to ( ususally 24 to 48 hours ) to go to the hospital and probably passed the drug test. Not to mention any hours you would have missed would have been paid to you.
