Terminated for Key Retailing......

I tried posting without being annon.... but I can't get the activation code to work...   Anyway, I was terminated today after a 3 year struggle with my GM Manager.     After  a 7 year Kroger employment I am Happy!!!!   I never have to deal with the  rules that are Key Retailing again.....  A 5 hour shift to breakdown and throw load is just not right IMO while others in the same department get 8 hours.....     I'm not here to bitch and moan about losing my job... (like I said my boss has tried for years now)  I made my third mistake and he/she won.....   I just think it's a shame loyal employees can get treated with daily harasment and fired for simple mistakes........ I just found this forum today searching for "Key Retailing".     as an ex jouneyman I still don't know what all is expected.... but I do know you can lose your jobe for not filling out a TSG, going over your 5hr load day  shift by 15 minuets, (Not overtime) and most importaint.....  If your boss asks you to do work NOT on the TSG DO IT FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you have union representation through all this? It is my understanding that you have to do the same ,exact thing like 3 times before they can even think about firing you. And I could be wrong, but I don't think working over your 5 hour shift is one of the reasons. They would have to fire everyone that does that! Also , I'm pretty sure the only ones that can write you up and fire you are the manager, or maybe a co-manager. Drug /gm managers don't have the power!

"it" being the work the boss tells you to do or "it" being the work the TSG tells you to do?

No the department head can write you up/Not to file. Also yes they have to give you a verbal first for the mistake, a note to file, then a write, then a suspension for the same mistake. But by law if certain things are don't they can fire you right off the bat.

thing is, kroger can be real  tricky, about getting around the rules to terminating.

the verbal warning, they often skip, they did with me.

they can just claim it happened, union rep doesn't have to be present for a verbal. thou they should be, so kroger can fake it.

note to file, easy to fake. again, they did it to me. anyone can write up a note, and back date it.

so your left with three write ups, that you have to sign, and have union witness for.

well, there is ways around that too !

they can take ANY action, and list it as 'failure to follow instructions'

so, you were late one day, forgot to dept transfer something, and were missing your name tag ?

three different things

they can declare all three failure to follow instruction, and bam, your gone, even thou the three offences were not near THE SAME.

what they did to me.

it's a trap, really, but one they use if they want you gone

It's really up to your manager.. backdating writeups can happen if they get tired of you, and there is a lot of room to make the system work in their favor.

Barada hit the nail on the head.   Key Retailing involves ANYTHING management deems unsuitable.   And the write up thing is true as well.   The final straw was me leaving a cart on the floor..... My manager changed a display and left the product in a cart.... for over a week.  Told me to work it.   I did.    I however failed to tote up the remaining product and put away.   Thus my third violation and termination.  the second to last violation was because My manager reworked back stock 3 days after me and I was written up for not working it properly.   Worked backs tock on a Sunday..... Written up on a Friday 3 shifts latter.  The first write up was legit.    I will be in contact with a union rep....     Again my boss has harassed me for a few years now.   Anyway just do your best and cover your A$$  Thanks for the replies!!!!!
