today i got into a little spat with one of my fellow employees over a particular customer. he comes in all the time and today was no different. when he approached the deli counter, my fellow worker noticed him and asked for male white employee to wait on him. she is black. i said to her "are you serious?" and she said "yea - he is a racist." to which I said "how the heck do you know??"
apparently he did mention to our chef that he doesn't wish to be waited on by her or this other lady who happens to be blackk as well. my whole take on it is how can you say he is a racist 1000000% for sure. maybe he thinks those two ladys just plain out suck. or maybe it is just one big misperception. or maybe he is but hasnt come out to say it point blank.
it just bothered me to see this man judged as a racist w/o having dead on proof. i try to give people the benefit of doubt. i always will backk up my fellow employees when then have a true valid stance. if i knew he was not wanting their service due to their skin color i would stand behind them and also not wait on him! i'm troubled over this some. i called her a coward. she was pissed. i dont walk in her shoes and never will since i am a white male myself but dang it isnt it time we're just one big happy race

The other day I was talking to our dairy manager and he is white, he told me that one of his workers who is black said, that he hated him and all white people and that they are all hipocrites. To me black people are the racists, they are the ones that are always bringing it up.

True. My gf is Filippine and they hate Spaniards and Koreans; the Koreans hate the Thailandeses, the Chinese hate all of them and the Japanese hate US. Viscious cycle, never ends.

let me say this... it is my goal to find our if this guy is a racist. if he is i will tell him that i stand behind my fellow employees and can not serve him either.

There still is racism and prejudice alive in this country. It never changed. These days it is just tolerated more and hidden better than before. My personal belief is that it is alive and well in Washington DC.

That worker sounds like a douche-tard, (pardon my french). If I was the dairy manager I'd make sure he got a first class ticket to the front-end. Someone where he could be "noticed" better and ya know the problem could take care of its self. Just my thoughts, because many front end employees at my store do not last long.
I hear black employees say that all the time yes it is a racist remark and you could file a greivance if you heard it and could probably get the person fired but isit worth the trouble you would bring upon yourself anytime ayone eferes to a person by their color instead of their name they are racist white or black why does it always have to be the black guy or that white guy cant you just say that dude or that guy if you dont know his name wh u gotta throw the color in there?????????????????
thedude, you need to go talk to the store manager about this. if you don't like the answer, shoot an e-mail over to HR or the union or the district manager or whoever but while your dedication to your stance on this is quite noble you're not the person best equipped to make a stand on this issue. the women of course don't deserve that kind of bullcrap but give kroger a chance to handle it internally, unless you feel this is worth putting your job on the line

yea i hear ya but your managers are not the swiftest bunch ever. they called both of us up to the conference room to hash it out. i dont think that is necessarily the best thing to do. regardlss - i had to listen to my coworker rant for a good 2 minutes about me and my "insecurites". Well the next day the customer came in again. I waited on him and found the opportunity to speak with him about the situation. I determined that he definately IS NOT racist. so with this information I pretty much was able to figure out what kind of person i was working with as well.
anyways,,,, that was last week's crap
