safty always comes first. this is the inside of the meat door at 526. been that was for more moths than I care to think about. only a matter of time until the sharp metal edge cuts some one badly. been placed of the net many times but never fixed.
anyone want to post a picture of your safty issue here that needs adressed
Thats nothing in comparison to the store i'm reside. We have baling wired tied to the a/c unit to keep it from crumbling from the ceiling. We have a a/c unit in the cooler that is dripping water constantly and its been rigged with a piece of plastic tube. Our grinder is on a "tripod". The back legs fell off and they put it on a stand. Kroger Maintenance was suppose to fix it 6 months ago, but never did. I've complained about this several times already some of it in writing.

emergency exits blocked by pallets & wing displays. baler gate has an opening enough to fit a hand. forklift rolls with foot off the pedal if in an inclined surface. plus many many more.
Emergency exits have been getting blocked for us. Management has posted a sign saying that you'll pay the $2,000 fine if you block the emergency exit. Also to correct my previous post we tied baling wire to the tray racks not the a/c unit. Its tied to the a/c unit because the tray rack started falling from the ceiling.

our "break room," used to be the hall way to a emergency exit.
thats what we got, a hall way.
finally, the fire dept caught wind, and made management give us our original break room back, that management had taken over as a meeting room, and kept locked.
i wanna know, how can kroger take a door clearly marked EXIT, and keep it locked, to 'control shoplifting"
shouldn't all marked exits be kept open during buisness hours ?
A.C., you earlier mentioned something about Kroger maintenance. It reminds me of a real pet peve I have about my business. We have similar environmental issues, and do we call contractors, licensed professionals to fix things? Noooo, we rely on hourly employees who seem to know what they're doing with spit and baling wire. Pisses me off to no end. Nothing I can do, these orders come from my bosses. But somebody is gonna eventually get very hurt messing with this stuff one day.
i think the worst I've delt with was the power jack's charge wire being wrapped with electrical tape and a huge hole in the floor that we have to consistently fill with concrete every couple of months. The metal around the dairy cooler is kinda crappy too where it's been rammed with the power jack many times....

Well from what Kroger Maintenance tells me they're building more and more stores, but not hiring any addiontal maintenance crews even though the list of repairs keeps growing. Just 1 guy could have 2 weeks worth of stuff to do in 1 week. I've have had to Jury Rig so many things over the years until they've come out to fix it. Duct Tape is your best friend! Hell, i've even Jury Rigged my shoe before. I go through shoes every 3 months and I wanted an extra month. I had black duct tape so I taped the top of them to stop the water from getting into my shoes as I closed for the night. :D

Maybe we should round up all these complaints on working conditions and send them over to OSHA and have them investigate several Kroger stores. Honestly, i'm getting tired of the working conditions.

A couple of the maintenance guys who come to our store have told me that they want to fix our stuff but the company won't let them or want them to recondition or rebuild things. Won't let them buy anything new even if it's required.
wow! most of u guys got it bad. i must admit that living in Cincinnati where Kroger is based must have its priviledges. one of them is constant maintenance
