Kroger is not the worse

Where I live we have a store called Food Depot. It is a chain of stores in Georgia. Not nowhere as big as Kroger but they could do better. I know someone who works there and they will not even cash employee checks. Also this person applied for low income housing and had to have somthing faxed to Food Depot's corp office. They gave it to a Manager earlier this week or late last week and it still has not been faxed. It was some papers for the corp to sign. So Kroger is not the worse at treating employee's bad.

well there is always walmart. I may bitch a time or two about my job but kroger has been good to me for the past 22 years,3 month, 3 weeks and a few days. One thing I have found is that as much pressure as they place on us and ass chewing we get, if you do the job to the best of your ability and show up to work ( not play games ) then they will keep you around.

For the most part, Grumpy's right. It may not be the best, but at least it's not THE worst! Always room for improvement, I say!

I have been employed for MANY years. I worked for Kroger back in 1984-85 when our daughter was only 3 or 4 yrs old. I used to work the Peyton (blue totes) back then and I LOVED the job I had there. We were an Air Force family and were stationed to yet another Air Base. There was not a Kroger near the next Duty Station.  I could not do a store transfer, so I had to give my quit notice due to relocation.

Now our daughter is 31 and I have rejoined the ranks of Kroger. I have tried to work for them for 3 months now and the level of communication by it's Managers is unspeakable. There is a BIG difference between the Kroger of yesteryear and the Kroger of today. I am about ready to hang myself.

I disagree.  Love it or not, Key Retailing is the best thing to happen to this company.  Looking at it from a business standpoint, every wave has presented the most efficient, customer friendly way to do our jobs.  The people who have the most problems with Key Retailing are those who have trouble with efficiency and organization in their own lives.  Also, it's the old-schoolers who complain that this is a different company from "back in the day." They are right.  It is leaner, more efficient, and people are being held more accountable to do their jobs the way we are being paid to do it.

Bring it on.  Cut the fat and increase our competitive advantage to keep us employed.
