i work in a department and the department head is not a good supervisor. I need to know how i report her. I have already went to asst manager and manager. They simply dont know what to do with her. I end up doing her job. Most of the time she comes to me for help. She has worked they for 10 years. She has struggled with other employees. I don't know how she has kept her job this long. She is a frequent user  of the family medical leave act and takes one every year. She does have mental issues. i feel like i am at the end of my rope. Besides quitting my job i dont feel i have very many options. Everyone keeps saying report her. But to who? and what steps do i take??

First of all, stop bailing her out whenever she gets in trouble.  As long as you keep covering for her, they are going to let her keep the job as department head.  You're not being paid a department head's salary.  So stop acting like one.  Second, "I have already went..." is wrong.  The correct phrasing is I have already gone.

You know I truely need help. It's very sad that I didn't get it. Instead you decide to correct my grammar. I have been hitting a brick wall in my own store trying to get help. There is a lot of background information that I do not wish to share on this forum. She has made her time at Kroger a living hell. If you were to poll the employees of my store they would all have negative remarks about her. I my self don't like any task unfinished or not completed with my best ability. I was really looking for some answers on what steps to take beyond management in my store. But thank you for your reply.

Oh and by the way, I am getting almost department head pay. I got 40 hours because of all her sick leaves and call outs. i actually make a $1.50 less than her. I don't want her job.I already make good money. She makes my comopany look bad. She makes herself look bad. She makes our customers feel unappreciated along with everyone in our department. She doesn't belong in retail.

The previous posters advice was pretty solid. Stop bailing her out. I don't like leaving work undone either, but seriously, she needs to sink or swim. You're helping her tread water.

But that advice is based on what you said here. If there's more, then no one can give you accurate advice without the whole story, or at least more details.
