Well I have only worked frozen food 4 or 5 times, and maybe threw a frozen truck 2 times. I got my order in and the whole truck thrown and conditioned with only one hour of overtime. I was underscheduled by 5 hours and I was the only person throwing the truck tonight. I think I did pretty good.
ALSO
I am supposed to have 3 days off this week because I have a mandatory meeting on Wed. But im going to have to work 10-6 tuesday then meeting 7am-4pm.. is that going to be counted as overtime if I work tuesdasy night?
What I was told by my boss, Unless they want to give me more hours for Frozen food, then stay till you get the job done. If you can leave early on another day do so. But if not, "You are a department head now, so you do whatever you have to do to succeed." I had to write my display plan last night and throw a 400 piece truck by myself because the part time guy I have called out. He is mad because he thought he was getting the department. So I worked 10 hours last night. But I did what I had to do.
I'm jealous, im not even head of the department and i'm expected to throw a 400 peice truck in 4 hours before moving to grocery for 2-3 hours. If it's counted as overtime take it, if they try to make you remove it you have a legit excuse to keep it.

This ties in with the 'We don't take our lunches because we're too busy serving the company' thing.
Just be careful not to drink too much of their Kool-Aid. Don't become a victim of the thirst. Salaried management, department head or hourly employee, it's all the same game (and I can assure you this is true): The more you do, the more that will be expected of you....and the less you will benefit. We've all seen this, but some of us have aspirations that make us believe it won't happen to us.
Guess what: IT WILL.----------------Unless you safeguard yourself, which can be hard when you're ambitious. Talk to salaried managers you trust; take good notes. You can succeed, but there are land mines you'll need to avoid. Your above post is a perfect example of one.
