How often do they change management in a store?

I was once told every five years or so.

It really depends.  At the store I'm at there are three assistant managers.  They get rotated in and out fairly quickly.  It's rare for one to stay more than a year, especially if they're new.  As far as the head manager goes, I've been with Kroger just over 20 years at the same store.  The current store manager is the fifth one that's been there since I started.

Co and Associate managersget rotated frequently.  Store managers typically stay put, 5-10 years, or more sometimes.

Correction on my earlier post, in 8 years I've had at my store, 3 managers and 8 assistants.

I have had the same for 8 years. On paper he runs a great store but the majority of his people are not happy.

mmm, in 13 years, i went through 4  store managers, god, about 30 or so o-managers.

we tore through them .

some left kicking and screaming.

ok, one did.

one filed for racial and sexual harrassment, and deserved too, they really were rotten to her.

In a year, we've had like six or seven co-managers (but I count ones that we've trained...I think we're a training store). But just the one (very strict, but very fair) GM, who I have the utmost respect for in general. Sadly, I heard her saying this was her last Halloween because she's retiring and I'm very afraid for the future of our store. :( One of the co-managers at my store is very crazy and micro-manages like mad. If she gets upped to GM I'll probably quit. I've heard she's on her last chance at my store, because all the other stores complained about her so much. I know some of our folks have already written complaints about her.

Well I wouldn't worry too much about her being promoted based upon all the negative feedback. Also, I hear the company doesn't like to promote within the same store, so even if she did move up, she'd move out too.
