What do you think about the New Kroger (The new way of doing things) the push on Key Retailing, the push on more part timers and less full timers, ?????
The purpose seems to be to eventually completely bypass the union while having as few employees in the store at a time as possible.
Kohls has that policy. Anyone that is FT is essentially in a management position. Everyone else is basically PT. Their stores are always understaffed, and you can never find anyone. The turnover rate is through the roof too, because who can live on PT alone??
Key Retailing is basically like going back to school. You get graded, have to learn stuff that REALLY doesn't matter. Everything in the bakery/deli is tagged with a p-touch sticker, both in front of and behind the counter. The area of the counter where we keep our gloves is labeled, the paper towels have their own spot, there are little stickers everywhere. There are 5 S's: sort, straighten, shine, standardize and sustain. Seems like most of those are pretty much the same and since when do people SHINE things? haha. Okay but anyway, Key Retailing is dumb. Funny fact: almost all of our departments got 100% last round, except managers which failed with a 53%. HA!
I work in the deli and they went crazy with the label gun. Everything has a label. They labeled our phone. Thank goodness, I would have been confused about what it was if they didn't.

When I first started I saw that a lot of stuff was labeled and I was like "wow, someone's really anal about stuff" and then I heard that it was KR and I was just astounded. Not to mention that half the stuff is spelled wrong. "Knifes" on our chef's utensil holder, haha.
Also key retailing is supposed to make every store the same across the board so a customer from VA could come down to NC and find the same stuff in the same place and if an employee were to come in from another store, they would have an easier time getting back to work.
Well if that's the idea, it's not true because I had to go to another store for a cake class a couple months ago, and I looked around there and nothing was in the same area that it is in my store. It was a smaller store too and kind of ghetto lol
key retailing works if they give you the time and help to do it they way it should be done but they dont and the way they try to run it is a joke. Even bigger joke is when the try to write you up for not making the key retailing goals
