If you clock out on shift, it won't let you clock back in right?
I was so out of it last night when I was leaving I had the feeling I hadn't clocked out yet so I dashed back and did it. It accepted my ring. Does that mean I'm ok?
I don't want to find out I clocked out then back in again when trying to clock out after thinking I hadn't.
Our time clock doesn't let us pick if we're going in or out. Should I call HR to make sure?
Well, first off, you should be able to do an inquiry on the time clock to check when your last ring was. One of the buttons on the screen should say "INQ" and it will tell you when your last ring was, and how many hours you had accrued as of that last ring. Second, if it took your ring, it probably means you had not clocked out. Otherwise it would have said ring restricted. Third, don't call hr. There are multiple people in your store who could check that you rang correctly.
I recommend doing an inquiry at least once every day you work to make sure you're logged for the appropriate number of hours. Ya never know when you might have missed a punch or pushed the wrong option accidently.
I liked the time clocks we had several years ago. You didn't have to worry about whether you were punching in, out, break, lunch. You just punched your number in. The computer would figure out what type of punch it was based the time between punches.
