From everything I've heard - no, if you're suspended you can't get unemployment. That is why they put you on indefinite suspension instead of outright firing you. Prevents you from being able to get unemployment.
from what i have read - when you are suspended, you should contact unemployment to get the ball rolling. that way when you are terminated, you will get compensated quicker and also get paid for the time you were suspended

Depends on your state's laws. I had two associates that were wrongfully suspended, "pending further investigation." At least in the state of Texas, it took only a couple of weeks to set up for unemployment and start receiving benefits, but they did HAVE get involved in meetings between the state, the company, and themselves. If you missed the meeting, you would not receive/lose your benefits. Burden of proof fell on Kroger, and anything they were going to bring up in the meeting had to be submit prior, and both sides give there version. Even if you "win" your first meeting in Texas, Kroger can always appeal and have a second, and even a third meeting setup to prove their case, so it is an uphill battle still.
Just a thought, but this whole business of having to appeal to any one for our unemployment claims PISSES ME OFF. It's our money; we don't even have a choice about it being deducted from our checks. Yet another example of how the government shoves it in and breaks it off.
