Tomorrow will be my first thanksgiving at Kroger. What is the customer turn out usually like? I plan on training a new guy on the bottle room and I need it to where they don't need every bagger up front.

It's not that bad. It seems busier than it is because you will have like 1/4 of the employees that you normally have. Most customers are running in to get something they forgot like Reddi-whip, cranberry jelly, etc., but then there are those people that apparently have nothing going on that day and just casually do their weekly shopping. Most of the time the customers feel bad for you and treat you better than a typical day. It's always seemed more laid back to me. Some years you will get a pretty good rush before 12. Since we close at 3 it can be a chore getting everyone in and out and turning away people trying to get in after 3. It might be harder upfront, but just relax and have a good time. Make sure to point and laugh at anyone that acts suprised they decided to wait until the last moment and now the selection sucks.

I'm curious too. I'll be up front. We'll be running a skeleton crew so they can't expect that many very last minute shoppers.

Also what's goes on for "Black Friday" I know they were planning to change things up for that day but I know nothing.  Is there an "event?"

The morning will be pretty hectic with everyone picking up last minute items such as bread, drinks, dinners from the deli, etc.  By the mid afternoon it will die down pretty quickly.

It really depends on your store. If you normally have a lot of elderly shoppers, they will clog the place all day roaming aimlessly from aisle to aisle.

Pretty sad, really.

Depends on where you work. I work in the deli and it is extremely boring. We have people coming to pick up their Thanksgiving dinner every so often, and maybe the odd person who wants something cut for them, but other than that we're extremely dead. But the managers want us to look busy so we have to clean the same things over and over.
