Bakery Department

Since I know there's a couple people here who work in their bakery department, I'm wondering, in your store how many employees do you have in your department?

Yesterday the lady who's the deli coordinator or whatever came in, nitpicked every little thing we do (such as omg, this half pie has too many crumbs on it), and showed us our full our case with all the individual brownies, cupcakes, etc is supposed to be.

What she doesn't understand is A: our store is smaller than the ones in say, Cincinnati, so half that stuff in there is going to be thrown out in 2 days, and B: usually there's not enough time now to get even what was made before out there, so it's going to look empty again soon. We only have 6 people for our whole bakery and only 2 of those are full time. Which means we don't have many hours to do all this. Just like tonight, with a truck coming, we only had 3 people scheduled for the whole day.

All these changes have been coming since we got a new comanager. I do think she's nice sometimes but other times I think she's trying way too hard. Almost as if she's using our store as a stepping stone to look good and move up more in the company.

But anyway... to anyone who works in the bakery department, is 6 employees an average amount or not?

The deli coordinator was in our store on Monday, I'm sure the same one since we're in the same division, and for some reason she came back to the pharmacy to ask about our fridge back there. That was pretty weird.

As for the rest, I don't know, sorry. Never been in bakery and always worked on the opposite side of the store from it, except when I did bread. Our bakery is smaller too, but we're also the only Kroger in the middle of nowhere at the outer edges of the Cincy/Dayton division.

I work in a large bakery.  Including myself we have 3 full time workers.  We have 3 part time workers.  We also have another full time worker but she splits her time between chef shop and bakery.  I'm in the Mid-South division.  The last time our deli coordinator came in she rearranged all the bread.  She devoted an entire section to artisan bread and crammed all the rolls we make on to two shelves.  They may want to push that artisan bread but it doesn't sell very well at our store.  Meanwhile, we're losing sales on the stuff we do sell because we can't put out as much as we used to and we can't restock it fast enough.  She said we were making too many hamburger buns.  We make two of each kind everyday.  So we cut it back to one of each kind.  Guess what, we ran out.  She also said we weren't suppose to put roll icing on the colossal coffee cakes and that using donut glaze was enough.  As soon as we stopped putting roll icing on them the sales dropped.  They look better with roll icing drizzled on them.  It may cost a few pennies more but I'd rather spend a few pennies more and guarantee a sale than try to save a few pennies and end up losing a sale.

I think she might have just in a bad mood because I worked today and someone told me she was there one other time and was really nice. So maybe she was just having a bad day :P

But she must be traveling around the whole Cincy/Dayton division if she was in your store on Monday and mine on Tuesday.... good luck to the other stores lol.

Our case DOES look nice now i have to admit. But so far the only thing that has sold is some brownies and a couple pieces of cake (and two of those brownies I bought :/). It was just annoying having to hear her gripe over every little thing. -_-
