What is the Kroger policy on the music that is allowed to be played in our stores? We're playing Christmas music, but not allowed to tell customers "Merry Christmas." How are they allowed to play Christmas music such as "Silent Night" and "Feliz Navidad" throughout the store if we are restricted to saying "Happy Holidays"?
If the general population is Christian I see no problem by saying "Merry Christmas" if you're a Christian too. It seems to me like discrimination towards your religion. I tell people in my store "Merry Christmas" and wear a Santa hat when doing so. It is very awkward when im waiting on a Muslim and you can tell with the veil over their head.

I agree with you, AnonymousCutter, it does seem like discrimination towards our religion. I am actually trying to write a problem-solution essay for school on this topic, but am having a hard time finding resources on it. I can't find the Kroger music policy anywhere. I'm thinking I will have to change my topic, but I don't know what I'd change it to. If I had the resources to back up my position, it'd be awesome. Maybe I could switch my topic to discrimination in the workplace and incorporate not being allowed to say "Merry Christmas" or any other holiday greeting other than "happy holidays" somehow?

I never understand the logic Christians use at Christmas time. How is saying Happy Holidays, and including everyone, discrimination?
I have no problem saying Merry Christmas to someone if I know they are Christian. If you don't know, Happy Holidays is good enough.
Because there's a war on Christmas, yo.
Apparently, Christians are being discriminated against now.
Seriously, who cares? Say Merry Christmas, say Happy Holidays! I say whatever comes out of my mouth, even telling someone who picked up their Viagra RX to "have a good night". This war on Christmas crap is old and over-played. There is no war. On Christmas. <--clarification purposes

Its surpressing one side for another. A customer can tell me Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Ramadan, etc or whatever holiday it might be even if I don't share it, but I will say thank you.

I have never, in all my years working at Kroger, been directed to say "Happy Holidays" in favor of "Merry Christmas," nor have I seen anybody threatened with punishement for doing so.
