Union Arrears? Back dues?

I was looking at my check ever since i passed my two month probationary period now, im getting union dues taken out of my check.  I understand the logic, however I have Union Dues, and Union Arrears, which i assume are back dues.   How many weeks of back dues are they going to take?  I mean they are taking 12 dollars a month, which doesnt seem like alot but when im barely making 180 a week, thats a pretty substantial amount, I'm fine with the dues, but I was just curious how far back they take back dues?  Probably the full two months I was employed at first?

It doesn't have to do with time. It's you're $65 initiation fee.

dont do the union. ours is $10/wk dues. if you get 15-20 hrs, what are you getting out of the union for that 6-9% given away from gross  per week ?

I checked my paystubs, they've been taking it for the last 15 weeks,  5 dollars 5*15 = 75 dollars maybe the inititiation fee is different? i dunno

You probably don't live in a right to work state. I live in Ohio, which is not RTW, I was not asked if I wanted to join, I was told "$50 is your initiation fee, and this amount is taken out of your check every week for dues." The end. Until I took a non-union position.

Some of them don't have initiation fees. Some of them don't charge you for the first 4 checks, then take double for the next 4. Best to look at your contract and find out for sure what it should be in your store.

Exactly when I first got hired I was with a friend during orientatio. The rep made us believe that we have no other option but to join.
