They should have trimmed the budget at both ends. First they should have kept the earning threshold at $250,000. If you are making $250,000, in my opinion, you are doing pretty d@mn good and don't need a tax cut. They should have raised taxes on luxury goods, such as yachts, Ferrari's, and any newly bought home over $300,000. They should have eliminated the free cell phones, or at least limited who was eligible (such as requiring that they be disabled or over 65). They should have limited that products that one could get on food stamps (no one needs expensive cuts of meat or gift items to survive). Lastly they should have extended the tax holiday that people were getting on their payroll taxes. Why penalize people for working?!
But hey, I don't make the rules, so here's my $11.
Thanks to Obama's incompetence, my paycheck was eleven dollars less than what it was the week before for the same number of hours.
The payroll deductions was implemented BY Obama 2 years ago and had been extended up until this year. Unfortunately during the neogiations with Democrats and Republicans they were dragging their heels on this fiscal cliff issue. The orginaly rate for social security tax was 6.2% with Kroger paying 6.2% matching. We've been paying 4.2% for the last 2 years, which put money in our pockets for a bit longer. I've told the senate people before to quit playing with people's lives. They don't know how it even feels to have $12 in their bank account or how they're going to pay the next bill, because they've always have had a few grand.
