Recently there was an app discovered for iphone called snippet which had all kinds of coupons uploaded onto it for kroger customers or customers of other retail shopping stores. One nighy in the store of ours a courtesy clerk was in line and he was purchasing items for his break nothing major but they did ring up free so we all wanted to know what it was and he told us and said we could use it to get free items so of course everyone was excited and all of us used it. Mind you we never knew it was illegal or forbidden for us to use this if so why wouldnt we get a heads up from management saying this is banned dont use it. Instead everyone is now in jeporady of losing there job and we dont even know what for. Does a lawsuit seem to be going to far?
Ok but how are we supppse to know that if no one has ever told us? Do you think that many associates would jeporadize thier jobs for a stupid free coupon? No one knew so do u think its fair for all these people to be terminated and not even given a warning?
I don't think its fair, but I don't know all the circumstances or what specific policies your district holds. Have you contacted a Union Representative? Do not sign anything.

I dont feel like i should fight for this minimum wage job but also they wrongfully terminated people and its not right what do i do if they put something in my face and try to make me sign it? Do u resign go to the union or take matters into my own hands and take them to court?
I believe what is happening here is the people are scanning codes for free items without having the coupon to back it up. They would bring the codes up on their phones and have the cashier scan the barcode it displays so they would get it for free.
You can not do this.
Free item coupons are only acceptable as manufacturer paper prints only and require a hologram imprint. Free internet coupons are not allowed. Ever.

yea that makes sense. the coupons are sent back to the manufactor to collect on at some point, right? i presume, with today's technology, that anyone can create a fake coupon. in one of my past jobs, I use to know how UPC codes work. as you all can recall, a UPC code looks like this X XXXXX XXXXX X where the 1st XXXXX is the product manufactor then the 2nd XXXXX is the specific item. now the X way to the left is is usually a 0, 1, 6, 7 or 8. If it is a 5 then that is for a coupon. People smart enough can create bar codes that deduct dollar amounts. its not a good thing.
but corporate office should investigate exactly what happened. then can then see that you guys are like huge "diamond crooks" but really just a bunch of dumb idiots who didnt know any better. then should then tell you guys to cut it out and if it happens again you will be fired.

I am no longer part of the oppressed, evil workforce of Kroger! Can you say "Hallelujah"
before christmas a notice was sent out here in the south telling stores these types of couponing apps cannot be accepted because kroger has no way to get reimbursed.
kroger also updated their digital coupon policy online with this statement:
Digital reproductions of offers will not be accepted (such as using a mobile application to reproduce an image of an offer/coupon)
it's not that they have a free item coupon to use. i see employees using kroger mailer paper coupons for free eggs or whatever all the time. that's fine. employees can buy manager mark downs, use genuine coupons in accordance with policy like any customer when off the clock. it's in the handbook.
the problem for these apps is there's no paper coupon for kroger to turn in and no system set up for them to redeem a digital version from those apps unlike with those loaded onto the kroger card.
sometimes these apps let people scan their own coupons but also reshare them so where there was 1 physical coupon there could be dozens or hundreds of people trying to redeem it. it's hitech fraud... WAY too good to be true.
every store should know this policy and every cashier for sure should know it just like they should know about the coupon limits set because of extreme couponers. if they don't know it's a training problem.
our posted limit is five coupons for five identical items
They never said anything to me. And I just recently took at least 10 on 1 item. Well, 10 of 1 item. And have on many occasions. Of course I was never really "trained", they just set me up, taught me how to process checks, cash and cards, and said any questions, just ask.
Just because it's on an app doesn't mean it's legal. Anybody could just take numbers or a barcode off a coupon, type them into a phone app, and presto you have "an app that offers coupons for free items." it's just like someone making a fake paper coupon, only this time they're doing it digitally. Just because it scans into the register does not mean the kroger company will get reimbursed by the manufacturer for it. The ONLY coupons we can accept that are not paper are the digital coupons loaded to the kroger plus card through kroger.com. NOTHING ELSE.
Anyone who thinks a 3rd party app with coupons for free items is legit needs to do some research first.
Our Kroger doesn't take digital coupons, unless they are loaded onto the Kroger Plus card. A customer tried to get me to scan one off of her phone, and I called customer service and that's what they told me. The store gets no credit for coupons that they do not have.
Still, I think they should have warned you about it, first, before taking any kind of disciplinary action.

I did this without thinking about it. the lady had some app and it looked like just the screen for the keyring app for kroger cards (like she just typed in the barcode numbers on the coupon instead of her card) and i scanned it. then she tried to show me a picture she took of a coupon to scan and i told her no. i later found out that i had scanned a coupon while she slid her card through the pin pad while i wasnt looking. everyone else on the front end was told directly from our fe manager what i did, but i had to hear about from another cashier. then we posted signs about not accepting coupons on phones and posted them on each register and on the doors. a lot of people seemed to think we meant any kind of coupon and dont bring any at all!
The columbus division did get the memo, but its up to people who have email access to tell people, not we all know that we will never get free items not unless kroger sends it to us in the mail. we already gets a discounts. there is a coupon policy and we just had some employess get fired for abusing the coupon policy. .. so think everything out before you do it.
I work for kroger ..... and a risk management guy came to me about my kroger plus card he said kroger started an investigation on me cause other people was using my phone number all around other krogers i said " dude i have no control over sumbody using my number , i done had the same phone number 10 years and do i really suppose to sit at home and say i wonder who's using my phone number at kroger .... so he gave me a new card and said they was going to deactivate my number..... just goes to show ya kroger is CIA .... never again will i put my phone number on a kroger plus card dam a discount not worth losing job over stank 10 percent discount
