Hello. I am the backup department head in the dairy department at my store. I am in college so I have a busy schedule. Sunday, I was 30 minutes late to work because of a very important meeting, which rarely happens (most of the time I volunteer to come in early). Anyways, this mad my department head mad, so she went and told management, which therefore got me fussed at. I am rarely late and even when I am I have a valid excuse. This is not the first time the department head has went off over something so simple. I make sure I put in my time each shift, and I never leave work if I still have work that has to be done. Should I just ask about switching departments or what?
Well the department head should have talked to you first. When management looks at the time clocks they would have see and asked you or the department head.
I don't understand what the problem here is either. You came in late, and by your own admission, this wasn't the first time. Kroger doesn't care about a "very important meeting" that you had on a SUNDAY. You were scheduled to be there at a certain time. This isn't High School. This is the real world, your job. Plus, I'm wondering why you didn't just call to tell your store manager that you had a "very important meeting" - one that was more important than your JOB - and that you may be running a little late.
yup. i concur with all the responses. you screwed up. shoulda called. you do got a phone don't u. anyways, in a weeks time it will all blow over so who cares. just suck it up, appologize, realize your mistake and move on
