im a cashier and today i was working on the second to end register. behind me was a register and then a wall right behind that. we were super busy (oh no, 3 inches of snow = end of the world/ apacolypse) so a person from the grocery department came and got on the register behind to help out. then, as im checking a customer out, an older man (like 40 years old) grabbed my butt. not like a pt or like he accidently bumped into me. he GRABBED MY BUTT. i turned around and went "sorry?" in a sarcastic voice to hint that i wanted an apology. he said "not for me!" i told him to not touch me and he cackled and ran out the door as fast as he could, leaving half his groceries and never returning.
this was incredibly rude and i am utterly digusted that someone would just grab someone else like that.
i am curious, is there anything i can do to get back at him? as in, would management do anything besides tell me to "get over it" when a customer sexually violates an employee?

You should call the police. The man should be put in prison. If he did something like that, chances are he's a rapist. I hope your store has a security camera.
Call the police, direct them to management and the surveillance videos, file a report, and press charges. And if ANY manager gives you attitude about it, present all your documentation and the manager's name and conduct to Home Office.
There's a name for what happened: Sexual Assault. And yes, under the law it very much IS a punishable offense------as well it should be.
It's because these scenarios have been treated so lightly for so long that these ass hats not only believe what they did was ok, but tend to step up their game. As it is, if the cops do actually run this guy down, he'll likely just get a hefty fine and some probation (assuming he doesn't already have a creepy record, and I'M BETTING HE DOES).
Yeah, inform management and if the guy comes into the store again, make sure management is aware of who he is, so they can keep an eye on him. That's what we do.
But if this old 40 year old man isn't allowed to do this, neither is the sexy 20-something year old man.
This is an old thread, but in case it comes up with anybody else -
If management fails to act on this, they are maintaining a hostile and dangerous work environment. Plain and simple. A statement from any witnesses, as well as yourself, would be a good idea.
hate to be a little doubtful but are you making this up?
i don't doubt at all that this happened. i've been sexually harassed by both female and homosexual male customers during my time at kroger. i've seen plenty of women harassed as well. and nobody seems to care enough to do a goddamn thing about it
Someone did that to me once and I belted him in the face. The one that did this was arrested as he had done it to other people. Outside of sore knuckles, I was fine
