I have to disagree. It's usually people like the raging commenter bringing up the race card. White people bring up racial discrimination more than black people, imo.
Well, in my experience it's not, but I have definitely seen what you are talking about. Especially here. Must just be my area.
In my experience, it's only the racists who ever use the term "race card". It allows them to pretend that racism doesn't exist, and so therefore no one should ever feel that they are being the victim of racism ever.
The term "Race Card" is a way to further demean people and further discriminate against them by automatically discounting every legitimate accusation of racism. Only pathetic racists ever use the term "race card".
And no, I don't have to shop at Kroger ever again. You know why? Let me count the ways...
1. Marsh
2. Supertarget
3. Meijer
4. Trader Joe's
5. Aldi's
6. Walmart
7. Costco
8. Whole Foods
9. Farmers' Markets
10. Mail Order (both Amazon and Omaha Steaks are great places to shop)
If you think there would never be any rude people at any of those stores, your mistaken.
There could very well be a Walmart Employee forum. Or an Aldi forum.
You know, Aldi employees aren't treated all that great either. They only have about 2 or 3 cashiers in the whole store at a time. Those cashiers are also the people who put the merchandise out on the floor.

There's a difference between a legitimate case of racism and a case of using the "race card." Legitimate cases of racism are sadly still happening and it should be stopped as such a long standing social issue.
However, the reason the phrase "race card" has become such a cliche, is the fact that far more often than actual instances of racism, are times where a person (of any ethnicity or nationality) have falsely accused someone (often a retail employee) of giving them unfair treatment or service. So much so that those instances have themselves become cliche, and rightfully so.
While I would certainly love to see 99.99% of our customers return, there are a certain few I wouldn't... Let me count the ways none of us cares whether you shop at our stores again. Let's see here.
1- 130 years in business
2- 339,000 employees
3- $90.374 billion in revenue
Yeah, I think we're not going anywhere. Looks like my 3 beats your 10.
And yes, I have shopped at Kroger every week for the last 5 years. Â I have had many interactions with all levels of Kroger employees, and this is the first time that I have witnessed anything so offensive from any of them. Â
Well I woke up to read all the post written since the last time that I signed in and this one cracks me up. There are well over 250,000 Kroger employees in this great nation. And here is some one making a big deal over 1 or 2 of them. I personally am insulted! I am not going to waste too much of my time on this particular thread. You say you shopped at Kroger for the last 5 years. All was merry. Then you witnessed this one incident. And now each and every Kroger employee is a piece of crap. Come on!
When I was 8 years old, this nurse tried to give me a shot. I hated her as she and her fellow workers pinned me down into the corner of the exam room. But today i don't hate all nurses. As far as the race issue - I can't believe you even brought it up into the conversation. Are you serious? I'll tell you what - go back to that Kroger store and flat out ask the cashier if she had and racial overtone going through her when she did what she did and report back to us. Totally incredible....

Oh and btw - this is simply a forum for Kroger employees to come and socialize. We discuss a miriad of topics - most useful and an occasional few that are very pointed towards the employer. I disagree that our conduct is inappropriate.

yes, for ring tender you CAN quickly close your drawer after hitting cash and then open it back up, however every morning your csm gets a report on how many times the drawer opens outside of a transation.. our cashiers would have 80 to 90. we're supposed to have 10 and were told we'd be written up if we had more than 10 consistently
