I put in my two weeks recently! I was just wondering how I go about collecting vacation pay I haven't used yet. Is it just added onto my last check automatically?
I quit in 2012, and had some vacation time due to me as well. What happened (at least at FredMeyer) was that your final paycheck will come in by special delivery after you've worked your final day, maybe by monday or tuesday the next week. It will be an actual check, no direct deposit. Your vacation time is legally owed wages, so it should be automatically added into that final check. Also, if (like at FM) you are "awarded" vacation time on say your anniversary date every year, you still have legally "earned" those wages, even if they aren't available yet to be used for vacation. They'll figure out how much of your yearly vacation time you have earned and pay you that as well. If they dont, it'd be considered an illegal withholding of wages! Check with your HR person just to make sure, but accounting in Kansas or wherever the hell it is should take care of it. Congratulations on escaping the Kroger Funny Farm and good luck!
