A general rule that I was told by hiring co-ordinaters is that it takes about 3 weeks from the first call to when a new person is working for their first day.
It's been awhile but if I remember, I was interviewed mid-week, told there was a second group of candidates being interviewed that weekend and I could hear as soon as Sunday or Monday. I got an offer Monday and accepted. Did drug test Tuesday I think and was told it and the background check might be back by Friday, I think I had to wait until the start of the next week. I was probably done with computer training and on the floor by the next weekend.
It felt like it was taking forever but I guess, in retrospect, it went pretty quickly although it took an additional week or two to get my first paycheck.
I was told that I would get a call soon. I was hired over a month after my interview. One manager let me know that they went through two other people in that time. There are all sorts of shenanigans that can come up.
