dont worry about it. you made a mistake. you were written up. management has to do write ups. it keeps order. suppose they didn't. this time it happens to be you. it sucks yea but dont lose sleep over it. just learn from it and continue on. no big deal just part of the game. its like going to jail in monopoly.

No actually, it's not right. They did that to me the first time I messed up on a WIC check, and because I didn't know any better, I accepted it. However my union rep marched right upstairs and made them take the write-up right back out of my file.
The first time you have an issue with pretty much anything, all they are allowed to do is give you a verbal warning. Talk to your union rep and tell them what happened.

If you were a trouble maker, had a bad history with them, that'd be one thing. But this was a simple human mistake.
I'd fight this as far up the food chain as you have to go.
