What happens after probation?

I've been working at Kroger in the fuel center for about maybe like 2 and a half weeks. I just want to know what happens after probation? I keep hearing about "contracts" and "unions." It would be really nice if someone would explain everything to me. Can they just fire you without notice? What is the procedure after probation is over.

Basically, after probation, they can't fire you without justified cause. You will also be backed by the union and can file grievances.

depends.

supossed to be

verbal warning

written warning

1st write up

2nd write, a three day suspension

3rd write indefinate suspension, basically fired, but they don't call it that as as long as it's suspension, not termination, you can't get unemployement.

of couse, big stuff, like theft, gets you axed first time.

kroger will skip steps thou.

Ask a senior employee who your store union representative is. Talk to that person and, if you like, ask for a contract handbook.

This is why it helps to understand your contract/handbook, have a good steward, and hope your reps contact you back quickly.

Apparently the contracts are rather costly to print.

The big union guy in my area wouldn't give me one unless I signed.

Part of the reason I didn't sign was that I thoght that was bull****.

My union steward is a "hands off" sort of person and I wouldn't even know she was the union steward unless someone mentioned it in passing.

I have no idea how fuel center employees fit in the grand scheme of union things.
