To prove a point? People are ridiculous. I had 2 former co-workers in a factory I worked in 13 years ago get the plant manager fired for sexual harassment (I HIGHLY doubt the accusations were true, no one did) when they got fired for something. They ended up getting re-hired and wondered why everyone treated them like crap and didn't talk to them after they got a good plant manager fired. I think they only lasted a month or so before they quit and went to live off of the government.

Well I certainly hope the accusations aren't true, because if they WERE, people treated two innocent employees who were standing up for themselves like crap. This is a problem, this is why more people don't report being sexually harrassed when it happens to them.  People tend to blame the victims or accuse them of lying.  I don't know the circumstances in your case but I definitely hope there was some solid reason to doubt them besides something like "I know him he wouldn't do that."

I was friends with the women before it happened. The accusations were not true. I didn't know the plant manager well, but I knew these two women. They were going to get fired for not coming to work and they called sexual harassment. He lost his job, they got theirs back. It was a start-up factory at the time and also a construction site, so everyone was new working for the company. It was total BS.

As a female in the work place, and most of my past jobs being male dominated, I would never call a sexual harassment claim BS unless I knew it was. I've been on the receiving end of it more times than I care to admit, but I ignore it.

Getting fired, them rehired in a union company? Happens all the time. I worked for a non-union company, and seen workers get fired over everything from stealing cigarettes to horsing around on a power jack to cussing out a store manager (and/or owner of the company) with some pretty foul language...TWICE WITH TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE!!! Even if it was stupid and/or assinine or "heat of the moment", as they say, they were gone, outta there, with NO chance of redemption...One thing I can say about the union, is that at least they offer a person a second chance, and I've seen people do bad things, but given a chance, learned their lesson, and shaped up, after a little intervention from their manager, a union rep, etc. In a way, it's bad if you have a repeat offender, but it does straighten out and "sober up" some of the foolish, immature young ones in a hurry. Like model prisoners, I've seen some model employees come out of it. Of course, that doesn't always happen, but at least the offenders get a chance to redeem themselves. It's up to them to take it.
