I know i shouldn't let things like this bother me, but i found something out today that kind of ticked me off.
We have a new person in our dept. and they've already started trouble. First of all she hurts herself in the first week, so now the managers already hate her probably. But anyway today one of my coworkers told me that this new girl complained about me to her. She said that I didn't help her any this one night when she had to do everything by herself when all I did was "walk around and bake cookies slowly".
Excuse me? I think I've been doing this job longer than you have, I don't spend all day talking to everyone like some people do. It was funny coming from her when she supposedly hurt herself lifting a box, called our manager, and was put on "light duty".... which meant really that I ended up doing the work of 2 people in 5 hours. She was supposed to do markdowns and box up pies and she complained about that. "You mean i have to box them ALL up?"
Um yes. What else were they sitting there for on the rack?
I know the coworker she said this to didn't believe it, but how should I react to something like that? I tried being nice to her when she was hurt, I was basically forced to do her job as well as mine that night because I knew things needed to be done, but now, that just ticks me off. Basically, what should I do about her?
Oh and we have a second new person starting this week which is odd, we now have more people back there than what we've ever had. I kind of wonder if the first one is getting fired before the probation period is up....

Well. how many pies did she have to box up? Let you work record speak for itself and just keep doing what you've always been doing. If she's as bad as you say she is, she'll eventually hang herself. If necessary, have your supervisor assign each of you certain tasks for the night. That way if something doesn't get done they'll know whose fault it was.
We only had 2 of each type of pie that day, and 1 of them was getting sliced, the other boxed up.
My dept. head always has us write down every thing we do, so it would be easy to track who did what that day at least.
When we bake pies, we bake a case of each (cherry, apple, peach, apple streusel) at a time. That's 24 pies. It takes only about 10 minutes or so to box them all up and label them. And she's complaining because she had to box up two of each?
I've only complained to two coworkers, I really wasn't going to complain to a manager unless something more comes out of it. I don't want to be a whiner and a tattletale :/
And on the pies, we have right now, apple, apple strusel, peach, cherry, raspberry, blueberry, strawberry rhubarb, and pineapple cherry. That makes 8 types but still not very many pies.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised now if she gets fired before her probation period is up.
She isn't getting along with ANYONE. I was in there today as a customer and asked how it went with another coworker working with her for the first time and from what I heard... it didn't work out so well. Last time i worked with her, she expected me to keep running in the freezer and get things for her when she did breakout. If she expects that from dept. manager or the person she worked with tonight, she's going to have a big surprise. I only did it to not start an argument.
We have a remodel right now which means every night we have to cover the tables with a giant sheet. Last time I worked with her, she scampered out of there at 8:57 (not 9:00) and I was like "we still need to cover this". She was like, oh I had to do it by myself one night, you can too. Which I did, but that is a really crappy attitude to have. When i'm working with someone, I never leave them until we're both done!
I haven't said anything to a manager but I think someone will soon, because everyone's tired of her attitude already.

I don't care what she expects. Just tell her you're not her personal assistant and she needs to get the stuff out of the freezer herself. You have your own stuff to do and you can't stop every 5 seconds to help her.
Last night there was a truck that came in, and she told one of my coworkers that she had to go to the restroom. She goes, comes back, says she's sick and that she needs to go home. She leaves and my coworker, who came in at 10 that morning, ended up working until 9pm to cover the rest of her shift. That's 11 hours, I know I would have been pissed if she pulled that with me.
My department manager told me tonight they're stopping her at the door tomorrow.
