Working with less than 6 hours between shifts
Permalink

My store continuously schedules us for closing Midnight and opening the next morning at 6 a.m.  When we complain, we are treated like there is something wrong with us and it is a big pain in the a__ __ to have to redo the schedule.  Isn't the law 12 hours between shifts?   Why don't you schedule managers that way and then they'll know what we have to deal with.

Also, I have repeatedly asked to start later on Sunday so I can go to church. Even tho i close on Sat usually Midnight i get up to go to 7:30 am mass the first mass of the day, just so I can work any other shift  but  6 am.  Again, why am I treated like my religion doesn't count?   Every Holiday they all ask for the day off or the eve off, yet they don't use it to go to church. It is just another day to drink and party.

You should read your contract. Mine, for example, states there shall be at least 8 hours in between shifts. When someone does come in before the 8 hours, it's overtime.

kroger gives no consideration to christian, or jewish activities.

now, you hafta whip out a prayer matt wash your hands feet and junk, and pray to a elephant headed deity on the clock, kroger is cool with that.

happened at my store

but anyway, they can't make you work that close between shifts.

get your rep , and state your religious rights are being trampled on by their ****s making, it might put a bit of haste in the union

I don't think religion has anything to do with it. Unless you have seniority or can work the schedules with some other people it wouldn't be fair for the person who would have to work every single Sunday.

However, the whole scheduling shifts together thing is f'ed up. That in itself is a big problem. :(
