How much trouble am I in

Hi everyone, this is for the people employed at Kroger or another grocery store.  Today an older gentleman was behind the cigarette case asking for cigarettes.  Normally I would tell him to get in a line and have the cashier do it, but he was in a line and the cashier was making no moves to get him his cigarettes (at the time I thought that maybe because she is 16 she can't get them or something because I'm new), so I handed him the cigarettes and he handed them to her and she rang them up A-Okay and everything seemed fine.  Then that same cashier came over and started berating me for giving him the cigarettes because apparently she can get them, even though she didn't which still confuses me.  So now I know what I did was wrong but the cigarettes were fully paid for and nothing bad happened other than what I did.  The question I pose is how much trouble do you all think I will get in if management see what I did?  I'm so afraid I'll get fired automatically for my mistake.

Wait, i'm confused. How old was the cashier? How was the gentleman in a line but at the service counter at the same time? Who cares who holds a product before it's paid for and not removed from the store?

Why is this even a problem?

cigarettes are not to be handed to customers to take in line, they're not self serve. you probably will be fine as you are new and it's not really a law, but it's really bad practice because cigarettes are so small & expensive, people will steal them.

Probably not in too much trouble. Next time just put them by the cashier and tell the cashier who they are for and she will ring them up when he gets to her.

You will not get in trouble. This is not even an issue. The other cashier might get in trouble for bad customer service.

I wouldn't lose sleep over this. Its not a big deal and unless shes a total b@#$ and goes to management and makes a big deal about it they wont care. Trust me, with departments to be on top of, deliveries to keep track of, and budgets to keep track of as well they really wont care about a small little incident like that and they cant fire you because one your new and two its hardly a big deal. trus me I see what these managers go through. And as for miss attitude I would tell her off when you catch her on the street. Next time she's in trouble say nope I seem to remember you can handle it.
