can someone tell me how i file a grievance. do i go through the union. my coworkers want to sign grievance on our coworker. she is also our department head. what will it accomplish. managemet is not helping with our issues with her. will this help?

It depends upon really if shes violating the contract. There are proper channels to go through first like your store manager. If it can't be resolved by your store manager then you contact your Representative. Might I ask what shes doing and what might be the cause of the problem?

We have went to store manager , as a group. He listened but said there was nothing he can do. We all wrote statements of bullying, laziness, keeping conflict stirred up, mishandling money, doing  inappropriate things[ Urinating in a cup}., talking crazy, talking to herself. This is just a few things. His response was "hear say". He can't prove anything. He installed new cameras. Trying to catch her doin things. Its been inbearable. We don't know what else to do. He did turn it over to our HR for our district. They gave her a talking and we were told its in the past now lets see if we see improvement. thats been 5 months ago. no improvement. Same things. I am tired of dealing with it but i need my job. I have heard about a grievance. can we do that? What steps do we take? We work in a hostile enviroment. Always something going on. Help or lead me to someone who can help. please.

go find your union steward.  <s>he has a grievance form that you fill out.  it comes on triplicates if I remember.  once you fill it out, go back to the union steward and make sure <s>he faxes it off to your union office. once you do this - there is no turning back.  make sure you have good ammunition and not just a bunch of smoke bombs.

unless thier ass is on the line, management will back a dept head, when push comes to shove, even if they don't agree with what they are doing.

most of the time, if a dept complaines about a dept head, management chalks it up to cry babies

remember, like dude says, this will be a can of worms. once you go to the union, if you fail, you can be sure heads will roll, so be very sure

It's highly unlikely they would do anything. Our produce manager trashed our back room, and the produce cooler, left the salad bar out when she was supposed to close, got a teddy bear and strung up some genitals on it made with fruit and put a noose around its neck with a sign on it. They caught her on camera. She said it was a joke. Ha-ha! Nothing came of it or her. She still has her position and acts like nothing happened.
