I was wondering if anyone is a file clerk / knows the different things file clerks do? Just wondering your opinions on the job since I'm considering it
Also, each and every UPC in the system has a file linked to it. This file contains easily over 100 different data points specific to the item; things like base prices, yes/no for wic or foodstamp, quantity allowed, quantity required, tender types allowed, etc... You would be the in-store person responsible for maintaining those files in the case that a mistake was made and it needs to be changed before an updated file can be pushed to stores.
Wander around store, change some prices tags, miss some, look for signs to be made, scan things, take long lunches-breaks, wander around store some more, talk with customers/fellow associates for long periods, miss making signs for half displays or put on wrong sign stock, etc, etc. easy job if you can get it, although some hours suck.
some days this job is easy / other days it sucks. I would hate to do it on a sale change day. also, I presume all the tags come from corporate in a big pouch. you would separate those and pass them out to the departments. produce can be a small nightmare with all the PLUs cashiers ring up. a good file maintenance person would stay on top of this. adding weird stuff into the system and then doing some audits.
