injured at work

i got hurt the other night while unloading a truck because of some faulty equipment. I went to the hospital to get checked out because of my busted head. I then had a day off. Tonight my injuries are making it so I doubt I can do my job functions properly and will probably be in pain either way. 1. Do i get paid for the time I missed the day I got hurt. 2. If I don't go in tonight will they pay me for that? Thanks

Contact your union Representative and talk with him. You should be paid for an on the job injury by filing a short-term disability form.

You should be paid for all time up to when you left the hospital. This should be standard and may be in State Law. As far as getting workers comp. it is usually a five day with out pay for any incident before the insurance kicks in. Check with the union on short term, but they usually have a three to five day grace before you can start collecting. If you have personal time or vacation see if you can use that.
