Hi I got kicked out of the service desk because I did no fill out our money order log ( did not know we had one) when my customer got 3000 dollars in money orders, and because I lost us 150 dollars on a lottery ticket I did not cancel in time. Do you think if I talk to my store manager and ask for forgiveness, and another chance He will let me go back up their. ( maby on a trial basis)

Since this appears to be a matter of experience, you should asked to be properly trained on the "trial basis."

Also, you should definitely talk to the union if you were never taught how to do something and management punishes you for it.

If they write you up tell them that you want to use the weingarten rights if the discussion could lead to your termination. Write a statement that you weren't properly trained for the Service Center.

Before you step behind the Customer Service desk you are supposed to take the AML online course and quiz. And every year it has to be re-taken anyway. If you have taken it then you should know about the money order log. If they neglected to have you take it then you need to say you haven't been trained properly.

the CBT mentions the money order log but that doesn't mean you know where it is or how to fill it out or always when the AML reporting applies.  the CBT says 3K but I was told in training the POS terminal will tell you when something needs filling out.  i don't know either way from experience as i haven't had to do one.  one thing, you should have at the service desk an AML cheat sheet telling you when things need filling out and you should have a card that lists these reporting requirements because loss prevention can come in an ask and you specifically are allowed to cheat when they ask.  this would've been mentioned at the required 8 hour money services class too.

as for lotto, i was told tickets can't be cancelled other than fantasy 5 so i wonder how you ended up with a $150 loss.

These posters crying about "GO TO YOUR UNION!!" only re affirm why I hate the UFCW. "No wait, he had good reason to fk up!"

It was a mistake on his part, but should he be fired for it due to lack of training or the store organization? This is why unions exist. One could argue that he wasn't properly trained to handle the service center that nobody showed him where the logs were. I just simply stated that he should use his Weingarten Rights if hes approached by management. Its like having a lawyer present to protect you.

yea I would chalk this up to lesson learned and do what you originally asked about - go to store manager and ask for forgiveness.  it can not hurt matters.  then at some point in your conversation, mention wanting another go at it. then say that it would be beneficial to all that some simple training or guidance be giving in order to make sure all the i's are dotted and the t's are crossed.

go for it! let the force be with you biggrin

i'm not advocating him to go to the union.  others did and I agree with you not to. to many cry babies out there doing things the wrong way. go have a small short pow wow with the store manager.  learn a lesson or two from the mistakes made.  whatever happens is for the better.

I'm not saying go run to the union either but if someone doesn't train you properly then they need to pay the consequences for it, not just you.

I'm not a really big fan of the union either but at Walmart if you're treated unfairly there's no one to go to. And I'm sure people there pick and choose their favorite employees too. At least sometimes there's insurance in the union.
