refund check

I just received a refund check for dues or initiation fees. Not a large amount, but I'm baffled as to why I'm getting one in the first place. I'm retiring soon so I'm confused about what this might mean. I emailed the union to ask why because I'm not going to cash it without understanding what it means. Any ideas besides the obvious ...that I may have been overcharged?

Apparently but I wasn't aware of it. I'm calling tomorrow to clear it up before cashing it.

Yea, you must be of the old generation. Me? Somebody sends me a cashable check, or other wise lays money in my hands? I'm KEEPING IT.

I'm thinking that since they're researching my pension claim they may have seen an overpayment and are correcting that.

Yep...I was double charged on my dues about 6 times...if you're a union member, watch your pay stubs!
