You might not.

Check your contract.

if your not changing your classification your pay should not be affected.

but your department is budgeted a set amount of hours if they hire someone else full time to take your place you might not get the amount of hours you want.

you may be setting yourself up to be screwed on hours

If you're going down in the same department then your cap pay will be part-time top rate and that depends on your contract.

If its a two-tier contract like most of them i've seen it'll move you down to the part-time scale and you'll only get $.10 / hr raises likely in the future for every 1040 hours you work.

My contract caps at $8 and some change for part time. Talk to your steward.

sounds like u ran out of guts rather than tired... hell who isn't tired from working under all the micro-mgmt. from corporate nowadays. And sure you'll lose your full time pay rate, insurance, benefits...just what they like to see happen- one less full time employee... if u give it up then they win and u lose... is that what u really want to see happen? instead of letting dept. hd. get to u... just do everything exactly they the way they want- then if the chips fall wrong it's all on them... it's not ur store, ur dept., ur profit.. just come in and do what ur told and don't be a source of drama. Dept hds. come and go often- many are way underqualified to hold their position but because not many want the headaches and butt chewins that come their way often then the folks who are willing to take the responsibility get their chance with or without the needed skillset. Be helpful not bothersome- a lot less stressful for all!

umm....

I think you are a little misguided by the statement that "they win / you lose".  for some of us, the ones who don't have a family of 5 in tow; or got a lot more education than high school drop out; who might be riding the tide in the mighty Kroger tugboat but just like a ship rat knows when to bail, we have the upper edge.  like this poster, some of us can escape the death grip of working for a POS place like Kroger.  We're not lemmings marching one behind the other blindly going over the edge into hell's abyss.  Kroger will reap what is sows one day.  They will look down from their crystal tower and see the foundation cracking and notice a bunch of moronic individuals are leading their army and wonder what the fu%k happened.  I'm glad to hear about people who say "I've had enough" and "I won't take this sh*t no more" and decide to step down or move on.  Life is way too short to do a slow suicide working for Kroger. So to that, I say that YOU WIN and KROGER LOSES.

But they aren't moving on, they're taking a lower position.
If you had enough and found a better job, that's showing the company.
Taking a lower position just to get away from one person? That's letting them win. :(
