Has anyone not been paid 3 days for a death in the family because you were on vacation? Its bad enough you lost a love one and you have to drive 1600 miles to go to the funeral you spend your vacations upset, crying and when you get back you don't get the money for the 3 days. I am very disappointed I thought I worked for a company that cared. Guess Not.
If you were on vacation, be it paid or not, you would not get reimbursed for missing time for bereavement leave. If you were on vacation and getting paid, then I fail to see why it matters that you're not getting paid for bereavement time. You're already getting paid. You're not going to get paid MORE on top of that. It's not a Kroger thing, it's a "every business with any sense" thing.
Sorry for your loss but, your family member died at the wrong time. They should have waited a week so you could miss work. I'm sure if they had it to do over again they would help you out, bro.

I don't think this sounds greedy she was clearly upset for the losing someone she loved and spent her vacation upset and stressed. After a vacation you hope to go back to work after resting and less stressed. Sometimes people just need to vent and they feel better. Hopefully you will never lose anyone you care about and have to spend you whole vacation crying and upset. Condolences to all involved
Your contract will tell you. Most contracts say "up to three days". This is not an automatic 3 day's with pay as it is up to the manager to decide how much time is due, such as relationship, travel, when the services are etc. The manager can grant more than 3 days off, but the most you will be paid is up to 3 scheduled days. Note the key words, scheduled. If your on vacation you are not scheduled, therefore leave is not paid. Nor is leave paid if you were off the days proceeding the service, unless you had to travel a great distance.
if i may i would like to explain kroger policy dealing with death in the family . If you are on vacation and a death occurs you can take the three days after your vacation ends. that being said is because you are on a paid vacation in the first place . The bereavement pay is for three working days. All you have to do is to bring the obit to prove that a death occured. They will pay you.
