Hi, I just recently applied to Kroger on Saturday the 15th of June. I called on Monday and the hiring woman told me that they have received my application. How long would it take for them to call me for an interview? Or what are the chances of getting a job?

What job are you applying for?  What state are you in?

Don't give specific store location.

As long as you are breathing, they will hire you when they need you.  Be patient.  Summer is here and they usually hire due to business picking up. Call back in a week and speak to the same person you already spoke to.  Keep calling every week until she tells you to go away.!

Good luck with the job.

I'm applying for courtesy clerk in Texas. If I call her every week, wouldn't that bother the hiring manager?

Nope: Shows initiative. Remember, we often get very busy and people some times slip through the cracks. The ones who kept after me are the ones I invariably hired.

If they need you they will set up an interview it is based on first come first serve if their avability meets their criteria.

I have been blackballed at a couple places for making weekly or every other weekly calls. When I eventually got through to anyone who could answer, I was told to stop calling. I was promised a follow up interview and a call at the least. So that one depends on where you call.

That said, I got hired into Kroger about a month after my interview. I was promised a call back within a week.

Well, it's only been 7 days since I applied. Would it be a good idea to call 2-3 days from now and check up on them? One of my friends who works at the Kroger I applied at told me it took about 4 weeks for them to call him regarding an application.

Before I got hired I checked in every week in person. They liked my determination and hired me.

Update: Today I called the store and some lady told me that she didn't have any HR and that I would have to go to a corporate office to see the status of my application, what's that all about?

 Hmm.

My store has a person that does the hiring and payroll.  I assummed that all stores were like that.  Call and ask for the person that does the payroll/hiring at the store is all I can suggest.  If that does not get you the right person, ask for the store manager.  Corporate does not do the direct hiring unless you know someone that knows someone.

I seem to remember you said a friend worked there.  They would know who to ask and mention your eagerness/exceitement to work there.

Good luck wth it.  I hope you get an interview and the job.

Courtesy clerk in Texas is a nice job , so be patient they would surely call you if they need you. Calling HR department on regular basis may irritate them and may also result cancel your name from the interview list.

I gotcha. I left a message for the hiring manager who does all the filing for the 3 locations around the area I live. I think i'll give it another week. What time do they normally call you if they want to schedule an interview?
