I have been working at krogers as a courtesy clerk for about two months now. Ever since I started working, my availability has been set for me being available on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and unavailable on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. I am going out of town this Sunday (tomorrow), but I got scheduled to work. I called my front end manager to ask her about it and she said that I am not allowed to be unavailable on Sundays. Is this true? I was confused because I marked "unavailable" on Sundays on myeschedule and I have not been scheduled to work a single Sunday since I've been hired. No one ever told me that I wasnt allowed to be unavailable on Sundays so I assumed that I wouldn't need to request the day off to go out of town. My manager said it was fine that I couldn't come in to work tomorrow, but I feel really bad about the misunderstanding. Can I get written up or fired for something like this?
No, you cannot be written up. If management days it's fine that you don't come in then it's ok. The only time you can and will be written up is if you are scheduled and choose not to come in without giving notice.
