SovI've been working 40+ hours for the past 5 months two days in deli two days in drug one day checking really i havent checked in a month. Anyway i just heard that one can qualify to be full time for consistency of 40+ hours. Im in texas and i think its 12 weeks. Why hasnt my manager said anything?
Should i say something? And would i get a pay raise if he decides to grant me ft??? i could use the cash.
@Anonymous pull up your pay stubs for the past 12 weeks via HR Express ( www.greatpeople.me ) also check your about profile to see if you've moved up to full time. If you have qualified for full time you will move up the full time scale. In some contracts if your being used as a "relief" in some departments it may not count towards your 40 hours. If you haven't I wouldn't say anything to your manager, but HR will send a letter to the store manager stating that your close to your full time status, so they might bump you last minute, but its at store manager discretion.

check your contract. in my contract there's no raise just for going full time but future raises are slightly higher. also it varies how many weeks you need. you may have to mention it to management, they won't say anything to you even if they know.
Im in Texas too and the union doesnt give a crap about helping you get full time..lucky i had a store manager that bothered the uppers enough to get it for me finally. Will leave the union as soon as my anniversary date gets close.
Make sure to read your contract yourself. The contract I'm under says working 12 consecutive weeks will make a full time job but it can be bidded anywhere in the district.

Our contract says full time openings are only posted in the store where the opening occured. In other words, only the people who work at that store can apply for the full time position. Now things like department heads, assistant department heads, leads, and specialists can be bid on by anyone from any store in the district.
