Just went in last night to work... Manager never told me my position or anything about what I'm suppose to do or wear.. I go in for work like he told me, and no one knows there were new people, (there was me & 2 other new people) . So they tried calling him to ask about it, he wont answer his cell.. So we signed in and helped out for 8 hours Since we were there .. Went to front to pick up shirts after our 8 hours, there were none, neither one of us is schedule for work . Someone told us to call later to get in touch with the manager who hired us. I did and once again he's not there!!! He's never there! I have been calling for the past 3 days to get in touch with him concerning this job and he's never there. It's really frustrating since this is my first job and I thought I would be able to save up some cash for college. This really blows. I should probably start looking for another job which is going to be tough since the companies in the area I live in are not doing much hiring .. This sucks, i really busted my ass working and my body is aching because of it, & my mom was all excited that I got hired and now I have to explain to her whats going on and that I have to look for another Job . how embarrassing ... =/
IM so sorry that happen to you, thats the evil of kroger at store level. I really hope you find new job, that store would not be a good place for your first job,,
do what your insides tell you to do, and thats what you do, your gut feelings are always right,, good luck
Did you watch any training modules before starting?
What position did you get hired for?
Did someone inside the store hire you?
That is normal for lack of communication between the hiring personel, store managers and department manager. But, your description sounds like gross miscommunication. Something is not right.
Call the person that hired you and ask them what is going on.

When I asked for the manager, I was told that the manager was at a monthly meeting and would not be in the rest of the day. The union had 5......5 maybe 6 written grievances on mr swoop for his gamesmanship to no avail, strong union. mr swoop didn't like me having 5 weeks (weaks) vacation which was more than he, now would be 6 (weaks). how many more have been swooped????????

I would say to you to don't give up and hang in there a little while longer. hopefully things will finally fall into place. looking for a new job is not easy and you got hired and have a source of income right now so just stay at it and see what happens. don't bust your ass too much btw.

Well, Kroger sucks. The site attests to that. That said, this is standard crap. Expect everywhere to be disorganized as hell. Stick with it, it doesn't get better. That said, I don't actually expect you will post again in all probability. If you happen to read this, post a response and let us know what you ended up doing.
That said, I am with the other posters. I want to know more about this guys stuff
