Omg! Control your f***ing kids!

For real, control your damn kids, the grocery store isn't a playground. If i had a dollar for every time a loose kid darted out from some random isle while i'm hauling a full pallet of water i wouldnt have to work here any more. Lol even at a slow pace that stuff isnt possible to stop on a dime. Oh another thing, when will manufacturers start putting brakes on the hand jacks, i have yet to see a single one with a brake and it makes no since!

I know that feel, bro. Just keep your head on a swivel and creep the pallet through the store. You can't blame the kid entirely, they're all jacked up on mountain dew.. and they're also like five, so that doesn't help. I do find it interesting that your pallet jacks work well enough to even need a brake. In my store, the jacks barely roll. You can literally hear the bearings in the wheels grinding when you pull the friggin things. Sometimes they explode out of the wheels, and only then do we receive a new pallet jack.

Everyday reality for us, for which I mostly blame the 'parents.'

It's become a game of "I don't care what you do, just leave me alone and let me shop!" Which is why it is we'll see three year olds wandering fifty-plus yards away from their parents, and we'll get these Code Adam (missing child) alerts over the intercom-----something which is happening with alarming frequency any more.

Hey, Baby Mamas and Daddies? Two words: BIRTH CONTROL. If you don't want 'em, don't spawn 'em!

Why would they need a brake?  If the load starts to get away from you, just pull the release lever and drop it.  Also, it's aisle, not isle.

Damn, I hardly ever move pallets as I work FE, but that's a perfect solution to a runaway pallet. Have to remember that one.

Whenever a kid does something they're not supposed to do, unless its dangerous, I let them. Parents have asked me "why didn't you stop them?" I reply, "I'm not a babysitter, it's not my child and I am not going to take responsibility for him/her." I say it really polite and professional.

With that said, I have to speak with management to resolve the complaint turned in against me by said parents. Luckily management understands my situation

I got a tale. Had to put up store signs by using the biggest ladder in the store (very long and not very stable). Kids are running all around me while I'm on the ladder and messing with it (running into it, playing cops and robbers with a squirt gun).

Also, quite often, I hear customers complain about people who bring their kids in the store and don't control them. When someone brings this up to the parent, the parent says something like "don't tell me how to raise my kids."

Well obviously someone needs to tell them because its obvious they lack the know how to keep them under control.

However, there are parents that DO know how to control their kids and to those parents, I say thank you

We've had to log off uscan robots because of out of control kids playing and the parents don't care.  We also had a girl very inappropriately hugging complete strangers, both women and men.  The mother didn't care and became upset as I escalated my exhortations that she control her child.  It was a bad scene.

I like the ones who yell at their kids to quiet down and stop running around while they're going through the checkout buying them Monsters or whatever energy drinks. I'm always like are you effing kidding me ->

Oh man, been there doe that. I'm on nights now but when i first started i was working replenishment during the days and almost every single day something like that would happen. I do know what you mean about the hand jacks not having brakes. If your lucky enough to work in a store with good ones (we just replaced all 5 of ours with brand new ones.) you'll know what he means. Also, dont just drop a moving pallet especially if its like a full pallet of 32 pack waters or something, if you store has tile floors you can kiss them goodbye if you do that. Loads better than hitting someones kid though thats for sure but knowing the general intelligence level of most store managers (you might be able to lightly toast bread if you got them together on it) they would try to have your ass over it.

what I hate is when kids are in the bottle room, sitting on the floor (which is disgusting on it's own) playing on their gameboys, etc. and I have a pallet jack to get through. I don't want to get complaints for yelling at someone's kids but honestly parents are stupid. People these days just don't respect your job enough and even when I'm at other stores as a customer I still give employees proper space to do their work, especially if they have a pallet full of stuff. People just have no common sense these days.

When I was a kid in the grocery store, my mom would say, "If you don't behave, I'm gonna leave you in the store with this nice produce man, and he's gonna have to take you home with him". Then she would walk away. She never would do that, of course, but it created just enough fear in me to straighten me out in a hurry, and I'd come running. It's something called REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY, people! Use it!!!
