I was asked to help clean in another department for an 8-and-1/2hr shift. I got a little backed up because the truck came in and the employee that was helping me had to go unload it. I figured that was fine but because of that I was on my own and had to skip my lunch. I still worked the entire shift. I checked my time sheet and noticed that the 30 minutes was on there. Should I explain what happened and get my extra pay or am I screwed?
Explain politely what happened. Perhaps it was a mistake. Politely tell them that you'll wait for the missing pay to be put upon your next check. That way they know you are expecting to get the pay owed.
They aren't allowed to just add punches to reduce you to a 8 hr shift without your permission. They are violating regulations and company operating procedures. If they don't fix it, they can get in big trouble if you can get the union involved. However, I would start out following mega-kitteh's advice. That gives them a chance to do what they should have done in the first place.

Never ever skip a lunch or break ever.
I am guessing you didn't take your lunch and worked the full 8 1/2 hours but are only being payed for 8 hours. You want to be paid for the half hour of overtime. Hard to understand your post.
You are between a rock and a hard place. Is the $3.50 worth complaining about? How nice are your managers? If you want to be paid for the half hour, ask for a time correction. Try to explain why you worked a half hour of over time to your managers. Keep in mind, managers do not like paying overtime unless they authorized it. If you are new(less than 2 weeks), they might let it slide but make a note of it.
Most places have you clock in and out for breaks. I know some use the honor system and don't make people clock out for the 15 minute breaks.
Never ever skip a lunch or break, ever. Even if a manager asks you to skip them. Walmart got sued for not letting employees have breaks.
I had a similar situation when I first started. During the Day Lights savings time change, I lost an hour. I asked my payroll person about it within a few days. The explanation was,"next time change, you will get it back." I was like yeah, right, that makes no sense! 6 months later we had another time change. The excuse was, "you waited too long to ask for the correction". WTF!
Anyway, she doesn't do payroll anymore and I don't ask her too many payroll questions. $7 wasn't going to make or break me. That was my first cheap lesson on how Kroger rolls as a company.
