A Happy Post!

So, I was just wondering....who really does enjoy their store and their job and the people they work with?  I LOVE my store.  I loved shopping there and when I decided I needed a job to help ends meet - it was the first place I tried.  Took a couple of months, but finally got hired.  I love everyone there.  And our Deli manager is awesome.  There are lots of times she gets behind in her duties because she's helping out with other jobs.  She works hard.   There are of course, the universal problems of low pay, being expected to do more work than time allows, etc...  But I am so happy and comfortable that I can overlook the problems for the most part.

Anyone else????

I like the store that I work at a lot. The management is very friendly and they get their jobs done. I work on the front end and I like all of our supervisors as well. All of us work as a team as well, like if it slows down and one of us has no one in our lane, but someone else gets someone with a full basket, we'll help them out by handing them stuff to scan, helping with sacking, etc. From what I've seen, most of the departments are well run too, other than a couple exceptions. From what I've been told, we have had some not-so-good managers in the past, but currently we do, and they'll do whatever it takes to help out in the store, from helping out on the front end to making tortillas in the bakery.

Yupyup, I work on the front end, and my coworkers are genuinely fantastic people, really, all the way up to the front end manager, everyone is helpful, cheerful, and most importantly, human. And 90% of the time, 90% of the customers are pleasant and a delight to serve. Like you said, the pitiful pay's an issue, but that's universal.

It's no accident I've stayed where I'm at for so long. I've watched people meet, get married; have kids. I've watched these kids growing up. Yeah, there's better things I could be doing with my time.....But there's worse too.

I'm content.

I have to echo these sentiments...I've been at this store now for going on 23 years. I've seen a LOT of stuff change, and people come and go. But it has been consistently a positive experience for me. I don't just have customers.... I have friends who I've been selling things to, and giving service to, for decades. I have no complaints. Some of them drive past several other stores, including a few Krogers, just so they can visit me and buy some of my products. You can't ask for a better customer compliment than that.

I love my job. My manager is amazing, our other staff pharmacist is great, my co-workers are all pretty good too. There are times I get a little frustrated but I enjoy going into work, I love how challenged I am on a daily basis. Our store managers and co's don't fuss at us because we've been having nothing but growth and breaking our goals, which is amazing especially in the summertime. Now if we could only get more ELMS hours I'd be happier than a pig in slop.

Let's see...You gotta look at the bright side...And by that, I mean...You could be nailing shingles to a roof on a 90 degree day...Digging a grave in a cemetery...Working under the manholes in a sewer grate...Be in charge of cleaning vomit out of bedpans...Hanging on a garbage truck on a hot day with a bad stench...Working on a fishing vessel with a bad stench...Digging in a coal mine, etc....Not that those jobs aren't necessary, important, or pay well, but if they are something you DON'T have to do, why not be grateful. This job could be worse! And let's not forget...if you work in a perishable department in the summer, FREE AIR CONDITIONING!!! What more could you want?

Wow just revisiting old topics I started. I'm still going strong - still happy for the most part. Get frustrated and burned out from time to time - but it's all good. 4 years
