If you are doing lot service, do any of you keep found money? When I was courtesy clerk/utility I did all the time, especially when hours were cut way back, and the lower pay scale. I've never been seen to my knowledge, and if I was seen either they don't care, or its okay.
I was told however, that Kroger don't give a damn, if your hours are cut into non existance or the pay is low, you HAVE to turn in ANY amount; right down to the penny.
It depends on whether I find it in the store or in the parking lot. If I find loose money in the parking lot and there's no way to identify the owner, I keep it. If I find it inside the store, I turn it in.

pretty much this.

Depends, if it's up to $5 in the lot or some random place in the store, I usually keep it. If it's at the checkout lane area, I put it into the donation area. If it's $10 or more, I turn it in.
We had a guy who stole money from a wallet he found in the parking lot once, got caught and canned pretty quickly. Not worth the risk.
I turn all money in. You never know who is watching you.
I was conditioning the cake mix one morning. There was a piece of paper with a $5 taped to it. It said, "Congratulations. It is your lucky day. This is a gift to the finder of this money. Have a wonderful day." I was like, hmmm, nah, not worth getting fired. One of my comanagers didn't like me too much at the time but he's slowly coming around. I could see him planting something like this in view of a camera.
Another day, I was throwing trash in the can next to CoinStar and noticed something shiny. I picked it out and it turned out being a $1 coin. Looked more like a chuckEcheese token if one didn't know what they were looking at.
here's the way I see it: if you can pretend it's trash you've just found, pretend to throw it away and put it in your pocket (or something similar). If you turn it in at customer service, some bastard up front will get to keep it (at least thats how it se1ed323c4e8ef42ef2664d1c4ff0f0897.jpgems to work at my store). Heck with that, I'm keeping it

The problem with that being that every penny of found money is supposed to be rung up on the register and put in the till. If your store isn't doing that, they have issues.
all found change goes into a till or is used if a customer is short. bills go into the till, if it's at self-checkout we note what robot/date/time as best as possible. if unclaimed by a customer, that money is collected the next day and becomes the stores'. we have checked the video before for customers who've left change or cash back behind.
i never keep money found. we had $1 sitting under one of the register keyboards for at least a week. I assume something like that is a setup anyway.
