experience pay?

I worked for Kroger from Dec 2008 to march 2010 I left the company as a nutrition lead.

I am now employed by Kroger again as of April 2013... I am making the same amount I made when I started in 2008 as a bagger...I was told I should get experience pay, when I brought it up I was told it was taking a while to get everything verified. Then at one point they gave me a .25 raise. STILL 2 dollars less than when I left in 2010.

Why did I not get my full experience pay and what do I need to do to get it? I work in 3 separate Dept's. I have experience in 5 total and I have open availability. I am a great asset to this store and no one would argue with that, so why am I being screwed?

Because you're working for kroger who can't validate someone's work that was for their own company.

You are. Your AM/ASP can fix that stuff very quickly if they are so inclined.

So what steps do I take to make that more likely to happen?

Stay on their ass about it and if they still drag their feet, contact corporate hr directly and file a complaint. You would also get some sort of retro pay for the pay you should have been receiving.

I doubt it.  I am thinking the 25 cents was the experience raise.  If I(a part timer) wanted to transfer to another store, I would have to start out at minimum wage with 0 senority.  What would be the difference?  If the OP recently restarted, they are on a crappy payscale if 876.

I work with a guy with similar story except exact opposite of the OP.  He is a crappy worker, does everything half assed, told how to do things one minute and turns around and ignores the instructions, has a bad thug like attitude and argues about everything.  Yet, he thinks he deserves experience pay because he was a bagger at another store 3 years ago.  I think he is too stupid to be taught anything.  I don't even talk to him if I can avoid it.  I don't want his kind of stupid to get on me.

He was arguing with other employees about wearing a uniform during business hours.  He didn't want to wear no stinking Kroger shirt.  The managers finally laid down the law with him.

Currently, he just put in his availability for the upcoming Eschedule roll out "event".  He said he could only work until 8am.  Well, he is scheduled from 2am to 9:30.  He keeps skipping lunch and leaving at 8am(without manager approval!) because he thinks the availability form is legit.  It has been explained to him several times that he is basically walking off the job and quitting when he does that.  Doesn't phase his ignorance.  So, when Eschedule rolls out, I am guessing he will be scheduled 12 hours a week....

Only a quarter of that had any relevance to my question..but thanks for the effort. I was moved up 3 times from my original bagger position. I actually deserve my exp. pay. .25 is based on what sort of scale? It doesn't even add up. Would I need to bypass management? And go straight to corporate? Or should I make a last ditch effort for them to fix it or at least give me a reason why I only received a .25 raise? Is it better for them to be in the dark about my corporate complaint?

Also, I am a paying member of the union....I've been at this store for less than 6 months but was asked if I wanted to rejoin last month by the local rep for my division because I was a former member. I am considering skipping all of the rungs in the ladder and taking it to my local rep. Would that serve my purpose better?

Maybe half was relavent.  Basically, Kroger gets a lot of idiots that think they are hot $hit and deserve more money.  Kroger philosopy, "Buy super dirt cheap low, sell as high as the law will allow"  whether it is labor or product.

You need to corner the manager or hiring person that promised you experience pay and ask them exactly how much you would get and exactly when.  Corporate will probably tell the manager to can you.  You need to grieve it thru the union if the manager won't answer you.

I am still betting the 25 cents was the exp raise.

Here, the first raise is a nickel after the first 6 months.  They don't give 25 cents out of the kindness of their hearts.

A) $.25/hr is nowhere near enough to be an experience pay raise, at least not around here. After several years with kroger, I had coworkers hired on at $1 or more above my payrate because of experience pay.
B) Even part time, if you transferred stores, you would keep all your seniority, though again, that's around here.
C) Getting the union involved would probably be the best idea, but only once you have gotten far enough that you can be certain they are essentially refusing you your experience pay.

Well I guess I'm going to make some heads roll until I am made to understand why I'm at the pay rate I am. Thanks everyone.
