our store (and the others I'm sure) make such a big fuss about being re-certified.  We were already certified...probably 4 times this year...leave us the hell alone.  Here's a question,  what if we don't get certified?  If we fail....are they going to closet the store down?  are hours going to be cut?  I don't think so.  So who cares.  Why not just say f-it?  We most always pass, but it's usually meat department that drops the ball and does lousy in our store.  So have MEAT dept certified every other month and leave the rest of us alone!  Dumb bitches.

You're telling me.

I work at my district's training store. Right before the last key retailing check, the whole division was told on the sales show that any store who scored Elite Performer (>95%) wouldn't be checked during the next wave, which so happens to be smack dab in the middle of the holiday season. Well we only missed 1 single metric, which netted us a 99% score. Well, come to find out, that exemption might not apply to us during the next wave like we were told it would. WTF. We worked even harder than we would have to earn that score and then they take away our major motivation. We have been >95% every check this year, and the only thing we missed was our pharmacy wait time.

How is that fair?

what kills me about this whole deal is that when we go into other stores (especially the zone manager's "home store") they aren't nearly as up to code as we are.  Well if the zone manager is at that store so much, why isn't she riding their asses about getting it right?  They should get a 100 every time.   This beast will come into our store which looks awesome and find something ridiculous to knock us on...for instance a gallon of milk that has freshly leaked out onto the dairy floor, what the heck is that?  I think she's jealous that our little store did better than her big glorious store!

From what I recall about the DM's home store, is that they often don't walk that store themselves, they have the zone ops manager do it (since they usually have an office at a different store). They do it to have a different set of eyes to see things. Still, a lot of stuff gets let go.
