working in produce

I would like to work in produce at my local kroger here in michigan part time as a second job.  I have no problem lifting heavy boxes as I am a big guy and I already lift 80 to 90 lb boxes at my day job.  Looking to here from other produce employees in the region on what to expect.  I would assume as the new guy I would get stuck working nights or closing shifts which is fine for me.  I just don't want to have to run a lane if possible, I just want to stock or even cut fruit for those fruit salad trays produce puts out in the counters.  What is a typical night shift in produce like ?  How late do you guys work there.  My kroger closes at midnight so I assume I would be done by then.  Thanks for any info.

You will usually be out at 10:00.

You will probably have to run a checkout lane more than you'd care for.

Closing Produce....odds are if ur store closes at 12  you would only work till 10 latest..average night consists of keeping the department full. Breaking down the rest of the truck ..Basically cleanup up..Getting rid of cardboard palets. garbage.you went wouldnt have to cut fruit as that as done during day.. You would however pull outdates for stuff and cutfruit...Its real easy just be sure to learn how to do everything how "Kroger" wants it done and you wouldnt have any problems
