Option 4 would usually work the best for those that willingly inflict wounds upon themselves by working at Kroger. Go as slow as you want, do a lousy job, it doesn't really matter. Typically, you won't lose your job.
Attending union meetings is a waste of time and gas.
I need to learn more about option 4. The job, well one particular manager mostly, is abusive at this point. They don't pay me enough to run things while the dept head and backup are gone day after day. Under my contract it takes four years just to make $8/hr while full time.

yah, if you are in charge every once in a while, just do what you can and don't worry about it.
If you are in charge the entire week, ask your shop steward about relief pay. If you write the order for the week, then maybe you should be getting the managers payrate for the week depending on your contract.

This is not a bad idea, but in midsouth you have to do the lead's job for at least 3 days out of the week, and for a backup you have to do their job for 15 days consecutively. Unless someone were actually out of the store (on vacation or loa) you would be hard pressed to prove you fulfilled these requirements.
